A Better Life Together, Inc. (ABLT) helps individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to fulfill their desired purpose.  The agency creates a partnership of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live and work in the community and to be valued members of society.  ABLT provides supported and independent living services to individuals who want to live in their own home and community based day programs and customized tailored day program services to those who want to work, pursue higher education, start a business or other goals.

It is the mission of ABLT to support the rights of individuals to realize their life goals through choice while working in the community and living in their own homes in the communities. It is our mission to support individuals with disabilities who want to maintain their independence. The mission is based on a belief that everyone deserves to live in a home of their own and earn money to meet their needs.

The goal of ABLT is to promote an increased quality of life for people served. The agency will accomplish this by facilitating opportunities for the individual to participate and become valued members of their communities. The agency will support and respect individuals choice and control, to access community and generic resources, to develop personal support networks and to facilitate safe and healthy lifestyles. A Better Life Together will strive to identify and build upon individuals strengths and interests, as well as those specific services and supports which are needed for optimum levels of interdependence.

Kimberly Mills,

Chief Executive Officer

Kimberly Mills has over 30 year of experience providing social services to youth, adults and their families.  Kim is the founder and CEO of A Better Life Together, Inc.(ABLT) to supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to realize their dreams. Kim is the proud mother of 3 amazing sons Antoine, Naeem, and Jaleni. 

Naeem passed away unexpectedly in 2016 at the age of 22 due to a seizure.  Naeem’s death reignited Kim’s passion to continue advocate for the rights of everyone.

Kim believes everyone has a purpose in life and it is our responsibility to help individuals find their purpose and fulfill it.  Kim has been working to close the disparity gap amongst people with intellectual and developmental disabilities of color who are underserved.  Kim is a leader in the community and volunteers as a board member of the California Community Living Network where she is the chair of the Diversity and Equity Committee. 

Kim is also a member of the Disability Services Taskforce and is a member of the System and Fiscal Reform and Service Access and Equity Committee.  Kim is a successful grant writer, workshop trainer and is a Person-Centered Thinking certified trainer through the Learning Community for Person-Centered Practices.  

Kim lives in San Diego and is originally from Ohio and holds a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Kent State University.  Kim loves volunteering her time at her church serving others.

Clyde Williams

Clyde Williams is responsible for company financials, business operations, and development.

 

Clyde is a Sales/Marketing, Operations, and Management professional. With years of leadership experience. He is an agent of change leading organizations to reduced cost through operating efficiencies that lead directly to increased revenue.

 

Clyde is responsible for the business operations of the organization, development of new business relationships and opportunities.

Peter Woodbine
EVP, Programs & Quality

Peter Woodbine comes with extensive experience in the areas of organizational leadership, development, and transformation, with particular emphasis on compliance and quality assurance.  His specialization is in the areas of Child Welfare and Behavioral Health and has expanded to include the Developmental Population.

 

As a Senior Executive for several non-profits serving children and families, he has been directly responsible for the development, implementation, and oversite of all Programs and Operations.

 

Peter has led many sustainable and transformative initiatives and projects in his field. His primary vision has People as the center.  This feeds his focus that companies are in compliance with contracts, federal and state regulations, and accreditation expectations including The Joint Commission Accreditation, and Council on Accreditation.

 

As the designated compliance and privacy officer, Peter is responsible for ensuring compliance with HIPAA, FERPA, and HITECH expectations. With his Master’s in Business, and background in teaching, mentoring, and professional development, Peter implements CQI methodology to ensure effective program functioning and identifying operational areas of improvement in an effort to obtain positive outcomes for the individuals that we serve, allowing each one to be their best version of themselves.
